Welcome to Shrimpers Grill. Open since 1992, we are nestled in the vibrant community of Port Salerno, renowned as “A Fisherman’s Paradise.”
Our restaurant offers an authentic, outdoor Florida dining experience, complete with the refreshing breeze from the scenic Manatee Pocket waterway, providing a picturesque backdrop while you eat. Our bar serves as a gathering place for locals and visitors alike, where you may hear fishermen swap tales of their latest fishing exploits over drinks!
Our menu is centered around fresh seafood and features a diverse selection to suit every taste. From our famous Bahamian Conch Chowder to our Crunchy Grouper Reuben and refreshing salads to our pasta favorites, there’s something for everyone. Chowder: The Shrimper's Mascot
Count yourself part of the club if you get to see Chowder, our resident, Small Blue Heron “mascot!” Chowder has been coming here for years. He is probably the most well-behaved bird we know and likes to stop by frequently and say hi without disturbing our guests too much! Before him, there was Fritter – another crowd favorite who visited us for years. Be sure to look out for Chowder and say hi!
The Shrimper's Boat
The famous boat outside of Shrimper’s Grill and Raw Bar was built in the early 1960s by Oscar Hoiseth, an immigrant from Norway who made his way to Hebron, Indiana and worked as a welder and built stage coaches for parades, grandfather clocks, and numerous ships in bottles to give as gifts. After moving to Florida, he began a 20-year boat building project using parts from a classic Studdebaker, along with a 4-cylinder Mercedes engine to power the boat along the Atlantic Ocean and the St. Lucie River. The sad truth… the boat – though more than capable – never made it to the water. It ended up at Summerland Marine Salvage in Ft. Pierce for a few years until Shipwreck Furnishings purchased it. It was then sold to the Prawnbroker Restaurant Group in 1992 for Shrimper’s opening. It quickly became a conversation piece and the perfect backdrop for many family photos to come! After seeing multiple hurricanes and storms through the years and losing its top during Hurricane Matthew, it is still living strong!
